We have recently rewritten our Behaviour Policy, which is now called our Expectations and Relationships Policy. The policy is underpinned by the latest research and places a strong emphasis on the importance of positive relationships between pupils and staff, and between pupils and their peers. Rather than focusing primarily on consequences, our approach is centred on teaching children how to understand, identify and manage their emotions, develop self-regulation and make positive choices. This reflects research from the Education Endowment Foundation, which shows that social and emotional learning can have a positive impact on pupils’ relationships, attitudes to learning and academic progress. We believe that when children feel safe, understood and connected to the adults around them, they are better placed to learn, grow and thrive.

Expectations & Relationships Policy

Our Expectations and Relationships Policy is centred around our three key expectations: Ready, Respect and Safe. These three simple but important expectations are woven throughout all aspects of school life and underpin everything we do. They provide a consistent language and approach for our whole school community and are expectations for everyone—pupils, staff, parents, governors and all other stakeholders. By working together and modelling these values, we can create a positive, respectful and safe environment where everyone can learn, grow and thrive.

Our DREAM Core Values

At Rosebrook we proudly promote our DREAM core values—Determination, Respect, Enthusiasm, Ambition and (growth) Mindset—through everything we do. These values are more than just words; they are the foundation of our educational philosophy, and we model and praise these characteristics in our daily interactions and teaching.

Children across all classes in school discussed the values which were most important to them and the qualities they would want to see in a friend. After consultation with the Rosebrook Imagineers, it was decided that our core values should stem from our strapline: “We can be whatever we dream”.

Rosebrook’s core values underpin our ambitious vision for every child and member of staff.  We believe each and every one of us can be a happy, respectful, successful citizen by understanding how to develop these personal qualities and beliefs: DETERMINATION, RESPECT, ENTHUSIASM, AMBITION, GROWTH MINDSET.

Our core values are central to our beliefs, which are shared, understood and demonstrated by every member of our school community.
