Keeping children safe is your business, our business, it’s everyone’s business.
At Rosebrook Primary school, we regard the safeguarding of children, staff and visitors as our main priority. We believe that we all have the right to be happy, to be safe and to learn. We all have the responsibility to make sure that this happens at our school.
We work with Clennell Education Solutions as our Safeguarding Providers.

We ensure that:
- The welfare of children remains paramount.
- All children whatever their age, gender, culture, language, ethnicity, disability or religious belief have the right to be protected from harm.
- All disclosures, suspicions or allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately.
- All staff and volunteers at our school know how to report concerns to one of our Designated Safeguarding Leads/ Deputy Designated Safeguarding leads in school.
- These staff in school are Leanne Todd (Headteacher) Hayley Smith (Assistant Headteacher) Fiona Nicholson (Deputy Headteacher) Gemma Driscoll (Safeguarding Advisor) Donna Lyons (Associate Assistant Headteacher) Matthew McGuiness (Phase Leader).

- All staff and volunteers in school undertake regular training on safeguarding matters to ensure that systems and procedures for reporting concerns are known and understood.
Safeguarding Documentation
All staff have an up-to-date understanding of safeguarding children issues and are able to implement the policies and procedures appropriately. Our safeguarding policies are based on the statutory government guidance, Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children . Staff are able to respond to changes in a child’s behaviour, deterioration in a child’s wellbeing, unexplained injuries or signs of neglect or comments that a child makes that cause concern. All staff are aware of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Operation Encompass
Operation Encompass is a police and education early information sharing partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support for children and young people experiencing domestic abuse. Information is shared by the police with a school’s trained Key Adult (DSL) prior to the start of the next school day after officers have attended a domestic abuse incident thus enabling appropriate support to be given, dependent upon the needs and wishes of the child

CPOMS
As a school we use CPOMS as our platform to record safeguarding concerns so that we have a clear picture of all concerns, this includes students who are archived. All Safeguarding Leads have full access to the system so that they can access information for safeguarding meeting and record outcomes.
Safer recruitment
We follow strict procedures to ensure that everyone who works with our children is correctly vetted, keeping our children as safe as possible. At least one member of staff sitting on interview panels has completed Safer Recruitment training.
Staying safe online
Children are growing up in this technological world and from young ages they are using technology and social media which many parents feel they cannot begin to understand. Parents may worry if they don’t know what their child is doing online and they may not know where to look for help. The good news is that parents don’t need to be experts in order to help keep their children safe from cyber criminals, all you have to do is…
- Keep your computer software up to date
- Use antivirus software
- Set parental controls on devices
- Talk to your child about cyber-crime including cyber bullying and sexting
- Be supportive and interested in your child’s online activities
- Make sure your child knows their options if they are suffering any type of cyber crime
