Leave of Absence / Holiday Requests

At Rosebrook, we recognise that the best way to ensure pupils achieve the best they can is by being in school every school day. Absence has a significant and detrimental impact on learning.  The Education (Student Registration) (England) Regulations state that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. It is important to note that headteachers can determine the length of the authorised absence, as well as whether absence is authorised at all. The fundamental principles for defining exceptional are rare, significant, or unavoidable, which means the event could not reasonably be scheduled at another time. Circumstances where absences may be regarded as exceptional will vary from school to school and family to family.

Please note that there is, however, no legal entitlement for time off in school term time to go on holiday and in the majority of cases holiday cannot be authorised.

Parents/carers wishing to apply for leave of absence need to fill in a Leave of Absence Application Form in advance and before making any travel arrangements (available from the school office and below to download). If term-time leave is taken without prior permission from the school, the absence will be unauthorised and if the number of sessions of absence reaches the threshold (10 sessions of absence in 12 school weeks), parents/carers may be issued with a penalty notice or other legal action in accordance with the code. For further information, please see the Attendance Policy in the policies section of the website.

Please complete the booking form if you require a place at our breakfast club or afterschool club from September.

We are only able to offer a limited number of places due to staffing so priority will be given to working parents who require the place(s) for childcare purposes.

Breakfast Club (8am start)

Nursery and Reception children are to enter through the Nursery door and will remain in the Early Years classrooms.  Y1-6 are to enter through the main entrance and will be based in the hall.

Cereal, toast and fruit will be offered as well as a drink.

It can be paid using ParentPay, at the main office or via the class teacher.

Afterschool Club (until 5pm)

Children will be collected from their classes by afterschool club staff and taken to the hall where a range of activities and a light snack will be on offer.  Collection is from the hall door.

Cost: £2.00 per session per child.

It can be paid using ParentPay, at the main office or via the class teacher.

Please note: Failure to pay fees for more than two weeks will result in losing the place. Payments are to be made on a weekly basis in envelopes provided by school.  In the case of a late payment, a reminder letter will be sent home after one week.  Failure to pay after receipt of the letter will result in the place being lost.

Please also note: Your child will not automatically be given a place, even if there is one available; additional needs and behaviour will be taken into consideration before a place is offered.
